A note from Explainer volunteer Sam
With one person off ill, we had 12 trainees on site, supported by Laura, Richard and Tristan. Their day began with a discussion of the activities to be undertaken. Core to these was continuing to clean the features, with the photography workshop in the afternoon something that many people were also looking forward to.
The day started off grey and cool, with lots of talk of whether (or when) it was going to rain. However, it had got much lighter by lunchtime, when we were visited by Scott Lomax, the Acting City Archaeologist.
Our find of the day was another clay pipe bowl. This one seems to be mainly intact, except for a small split immediately below the bowl.
